(Today is day 4 of my 21-day commitment to pray for the top two Presidential candidates. Here is the original post of this series.)
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”–I Timothy 2:1-2
Lord, today I recognize that we live in a nation that feels neither peaceful, quiet, godly, nor holy. We are divided along political, racial, social, and economic lines. I pray that you would burden the hearts of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump to become uniters. I also pray that you would convince all of us who follow you of our need to be peacemakers in our land. Finally, I pray for peace in our land in the days around and immediately after the election, and I cast my concerns about post-election violence unto You.
